Hunt County Criminal History is an independently operated private reference site. It is not part of Hunt County, the State of Texas, or any public office. The website does not possess official records, conduct government background checks, retrieve files on a visitor's behalf, or submit legal papers.

Its role is to direct readers to custodians such as the Hunt County Sheriff's Office, the county's criminal courts, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Links may also lead to outside tools that can assist with personal research.
